BETTER DAYS
(Sherri Mullen Copyright ©2006)
Beauty long since faded hides behind her eyes of blue
Puts on a coat of makeup, attempting to disguise the truth
Their words echo in the shadows of her fragile mind
Trying to forget them, she struggles to unwind
She screams
"Mirror, mirror please ignore
This person that you see before you"
(CHORUS)
She's contemplating - Self medicating
While patiently waiting for BETTER DAYS
BETTER DAYS will soon be here
She sips her wine as she reflects on all that has transpired
Drinking, thinking, slowly sinking - feeling uninspired
Three bottles soon lie empty, she knows their words are true
The numbness blocks out all the sadness, still it's just a ruse
She screams
"Just one more is all I need
I can quit any time I please"
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Flying, dreaming, longing, scheming
Floating, leaving, finding meaning
Then she wakes up rearranged
The ride is over, nothing's changed
Nothing's changed
(CHORUS)
She's contemplating - Self medicating
While patiently waiting for BETTER DAYS
She's contemplating - Self medicating
While patiently waiting for BETTER DAYS
BETTER DAYS
BETTER DAYS will soon be here
"Mirror mirror please ignore
This person that you see before you"
