DADDY'S GIRL
(Sherri Mullen Copyright ©2004)
Good morning Daddy - do I look pretty today
First day of school's here and I'm a little afraid
Cause I don't want to leave you - what should I do
I got my backpack and all my pencils and books
Look at my new dress, tell me Dad how do I look
Oh I wish you could come with me cause I don't like strangers
(CHORUS)
Then he said don't you worry - don't you fret
I'll be right here when you get home
Little girl - you're growing up
Some things you just have to do on your own
But you'll always have me and you'll always be DADDY'S GIRL
He said it's over, dad - I don't know what I did
My friends in 12th grade say I can do better than him
But I think my heart is broken - I'll never love again
(CHORUS)
Then he said don't you worry - don't you fret
It hurts right now but someday you'll understand
Little girl - as you grow up
Sometimes things won't work out like you planned
But you'll always have me and you'll always be DADDY'S GIRL
When I'm having a bad day
I can talk to him - and he knows just what to say
When I'm feeling blue
Cause that's what Daddy's do
The kids are growing
Seems they don't need me too much
What are you doing, dad
Let's go to Kuppy's for lunch
Cause I got a lot to tell you and I'm feeling lonely
(CHORUS)
Then he said don't you worry - don't you fret
I'll meet you at noon and lunch is on me
Give them space - they're growing up
Someday they'll come around - you'll see
Till then - you'll always have me and you'll always be DADDY'S GIRL
Yeah if it's up to me - I'll always be DADDY'S GIRL
