JESSIE AND DAISY
(Sherri Mullen/Shane Mullen Copyright ©2010)
There is a house at the end of the lane
The old man sits there staring
Still as the glass on the windowpane
Stained and close to breaking
There's guns on the wall and the neighbors don't call
Everyone thinks he's crazy
Ever since that night in the pale moon light
When he lost his precious Daisy
(CHORUS)
Yeah they took her away
He swore they would pay
There would come a day...to avenge his lady
Jessie and Daisy were the talk of the town
You could always find them together
They talked about getting out
Though the others said it was forever
Still they made a plan and packed their bags
It was getting heated lately
When Jessie went into town, the others came around
Made an example out of Daisy
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Two days went by Jessie stayed inside
Till they came with guns a blazing
They shot up the house till their clips ran out
While Jessie lied in waiting
Then they stormed the front door ...Jessie safe on the floor
His rifle fully loaded
They tried to plead their case but he saw Daisy's face
Lead flew as his pain exploded
Now he sits and stares out the window there
Out to where his lover’s grave is
He says his prayers and keeps to himself
Though he knows those prayers won't save him
Judge said self defense, one sad chain of events
But Jessie knew his true intentions
When the afterlife calls, he must answer to it all
He knows there will be no redemption
(CHORUS)
Yeah they'll take him away
And he'll have to pay
But that's okay... Yeah that's okay
They'll take him away
And he'll have to pay
But that's okay.... He did it for daisy
